Bob,
Wawa is one of my favorite people of all time. We lost contact after college, but I will always remember him with great fondness. As for Ladysmith Black Mambazo, I first became acquainted with them when they did the album with Paul Simon in th 1970s. However, I really became enchanted with them when I was in a relationship with a woman from Zimbabwe who introduced me to a gospel album they had done with a number of guest artists including this number with Dolly Parton
Hearing this album so inspred me that during the memorial service that I perrform at the Black Alumni Weekends I usually include this collaboration between Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the late great Phoebe Snow
Bob, I am a late bloomer with regards to world music, but discovering it has greatly enriched my life and now I cannot wait to see what treasures will come forth next.
Thank you my brother for all of your insights. .. and to all my brothers and sisters... have a great Sabbath.
Peace,
Everett "Skip" Jenkins
